THE KINGDOM CENTER PROJECT
#1. A Call to serve - the least of these in Ventura County to personally serve Jesus by providing a Christ Centered Transitional Living Center for the homeless in the county. This center will be unique in that it will focus on a complete transition centered in the love of Jesus Christ. Spiritual, mental and physical needs will be addressed.
#2. A Call to unity – in Ventura County by providing a center that reflects THE Church working together to address the needs of the single mothers, young adults, men and woman homeless that have no place to sleep, no food to eat, no clothes to wear, and mostly no one to love them as Christ would love them. This Center will display all the churches logos that have committed to sponsor the work – no one more prominent then another. In the center will be a cross reflecting Jesus the center of this work and as a witness to his Him.
#3.A Call to give – to fund this center and make it a reality. This center is a new work that will be funded by churches and individuals that will support a Christ Center Faith based approach to ending homelessness.
#4.A Call to action - The timing of the Center coming on- line is completely dependent on the funding provided by Church’s and individuals that support this kind of work. Our Hope and prayer is to have the center online and fully operating by Christmas 2009. If we can begin operation sooner before the winter months begin we will.
#5.A Call to resource - The Center will employ professional leadership that has experience in providing Transitional living services. In addition to the professional staff, the Goal will be to have each church involved in the work of this center. The model will be based on a Church sponsorship approach the details of which are listed in the needs list. Our hope is to connect our local community to the local needs of the “least of these” by assigning a homeless family in transition to a family from each church. They would act as a liaison between their church and the homeless, hopefully becoming a friend to a homeless person/family that has committed to transition permanently off the streets. As part of the sponsorship, each church will be able to stay connected to the center through those relationships AND by utilizing the Kingdom Center facilities for mid week worship services, bible studies, small group meetings, social activities, etc to bless this community. Members of that congregation will work with the Kingdom Center Staff to assist in the spiritual development and mentoring of the person/family.
